On the cold evening of Thursday 21st February, six brave gentleman from IPPlus PLC got together to form IPPlus FC. Luckily it was just in time to take part in the Goals 5-A-Side football tournament.

The team was made up of players from the two divisions of the IPPlus family; Matt Lawrence, James Roper, Rob Laing and Robert Stewart from Ansaback 24/7 Call Centre were joined by Scott Wells and Luke Singh from  IP3 Telecom, our sister company providing telephony solutions.

There were 14 teams in total in Goals 5-A-Side league, although unfortunately one team did drop bringing the total number of groups down to 13.

IPPlus FC started off well ahead of the rest winning all 4 games in the group stages which was fantastic achievement. Toward the end of the night it become apparent that IPPlus Fc had a distinct disadvantage, the team could have used an extra player as the fatigue and exhaustion started to set in during the final skirmishes. Other teams in the league had more players than IPPlus FC meaning they were able to sub players during the games to keep them refreshed but unfortunately this was not an option for our boys.

Despite being on the brink of collapsing, IPPlus FC were able to make it to the finals where they met a team that they had already beaten in the group stages. Unfortunately history did not repeat itself as the opposing team were able to push forward and finish the game with 2 goals instead of our one. 2-1 to them was the final score.

Although IPPlus FC did not come out on top; spirits were still high as everyone had enjoyed an evening of great football and a great laughs. I’m sure things will be different at the next tournament when IPPlus FC have increased their numbers. Well Done guys!
